The studio
Studio Turkmani is a cultural production and project studio based in Oslo. We plan and run cultural events and festivals, manage projects from first idea to final report, and advise organisations working at the meeting point of culture, community and social impact. We take on a small number of engagements at a time so each one is done properly.
The studio's work sits in three places. Most of it is engagements — festivals, events, projects and advisory, for cultural organisations and the people who fund them. Some of it became a product: Diwan, the operations system we built for organisations running exactly this kind of work. Behind both is the founder's own practice in social work and community organising, documented on its own site. The rest of this page takes them in that order.

Selected work
Five engagements, with the year, the role held and what was delivered.
Overall organisation and coordination of a multi-venue cultural festival in Oslo: programme coordination across venues, volunteer team leaders and shifts, production, and day-of operations, delivered on a fixed scope.
Coordination of cultural events including a stand-up comedy evening and concert programmes, from planning to delivery.
Questionnaire design and data-collection facilitation on a research project. Credited in the acknowledgements of two published studies (SSM — Mental Health, 2024; Cambridge Prisms: Global Mental Health, 2025).
Contributor to the textbook Hei! B1, Norwegian language and social studies for adult immigrants, with two lectures in connection with the publication in Oslo and Trondheim.
Co-founder and first board leader; frikjøpt leder and later koordinator. Built the organisation to roughly 60 members and a project portfolio of about NOK 653,000, and represented it at a Storting hearing in 2018.

The studio's product
Diwan ديوان is the studio's own product: a private dashboard that holds an organisation's events, artists, volunteers, funding and reporting in one place, in Arabic, Norwegian and English. Studio Turkmani builds it and runs it.
The fourth step above — hand-over, and everything a funder or a board asks for afterwards — is the part of a project that carries on after the event is over. Diwan is what the studio built for it.
Every grant is tracked from lead to reported, and anything due within thirty days appears on the dashboard and in the Monday email.
A public signup form registers each respondent straight into the people registry, with consent noted. Each artist gets a private link for rider, hotel and travel notes, and the event workspace gathers lineup, crew, checklist and economics on one page.
Event reports, season summaries and a trilingual board pack — printable, and built from the organisation's own numbers.
Each organisation gets its own instance, hosted in Europe, with a data processing agreement from day one. Data stays in that instance rather than on a shared platform, everything can be exported at any time, and an instance can be hard-deleted on request. Nothing is sent to AI providers automatically, and submitted content is never used to train models.

Founder
Studio Turkmani is led by Nader Turkmani, a Syrian-Norwegian cultural producer and project manager based in Oslo. The work listed above is his.
Originally from Homs, his work brings together cultural production, project management, and community and social-impact practice.
He holds a bachelor's degree in social work from the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (2019–2023) and completed a year of entrepreneurship and innovation studies at OsloMet (2024–2025).
Before founding Studio Turkmani he co-founded and led a Bergen civil-society organisation, worked as a project member at Skeiv Verden nationally, taught as a substitute at Nygård School, and worked as an interpreter with ASAM, a UNHCR partner, in Turkey. That grounding in community organising continues to shape how the studio produces cultural work.
There is a second body of work behind all of this, and it is kept on its own site on purpose. naderturkmani.no is Nader's practitioner site: education in displacement, refugee inclusion, community-led practice, and field research and documentation — written for humanitarian organisations, municipalities, NGOs, foundations and education actors rather than for festival programmes.
The two sites are not versions of each other. This one is the studio's production work; that one is the practice behind it — quiet, practical, and grounded in what is actually possible, starting from what families, teachers and community workers are already doing.
